Tanis Half-Elven

Tanis Half-Elven was born in the year 247 AC, the son of Elansa Kanan, and a human rogue who raped her and killed her husband. Tanis' mother was the wife of Kethrenan, the younger brother of the Speaker of the Suns. Solostaran raised Tanis with his children, but he was always an outcast as he was a half-elf. While still young, Tanis met Flint Fireforge, a hill dwarf residing in Qualinost as well. After leaving Qualinesti together, Tanis and Flint were business partners for a time in the town of Solace. It was there where he met Strum, Caramon, and Raistlin. Always the glue that held the Heroes together, Tanis was often thrust into the role of leadership, Tanis became one of the famed Heroes of the Lance, an honorary Solamnic Knight, husband of Laurana Kanan and father of Gilthas. Tanis was slain by the Knights of Takhisis, defending the High Clerist's Tower in 383 AC.

Lauranalanthalasa "Laurana" Kanan

Born in 278 AC, Laurana is the youngest child of the Speaker of the Suns. She and her childhood playmate Tanis were secretly betrothed shortly before Tanis left Qualinesti with Flint Fireforge. When he returned during the War of the Lance, Laurana followed the Companions to Pax Tharkas where she learned what it meant to adventure. Seeing the hardships of the world, forged Laurana from a sheltered girl, to a battle hardened woman. She became the Golden General, leading Whitestone armies against the Dragon Highlords and contributing to the defeat of the Dark Queen. She and Tanis were later married, and have a son Gilthas, who is Speaker of the Suns—albeit a puppet of the Knights of Takhisis. In the following years Laurana stayed with Gilthas and attempted to aid him in governing Qualinesti, however when Beryl attacked Qualinesti directly during the War of Souls. Laurana realized she was one of the only individuals who could stand against the dragon. In her final confrontation, calling an ancient battle cry of her people, she wielded a dragonlance and caused Beryl's demise, and with her dying breath bade her husband Tanis and her friend Strum, that she would be with them soon.

Raistlin Majere

Born shortly after his twin, Caramon, Raistlin was always a sickly child. Disliked by most other children of Solace, Raistlin was a loner, preferring magic to swordplay. He was enrolled in a magical school and there became the youngest wizard to ever take the Test. The wounds he received there—golden skin that is a shield from all offensive magic and hourglass eyes, which see things as they are affected by time, wasting and dying before his very eyes—have affected him tremendously. Switching from the Red to Black Robes, Raistlin challenged Fistandantilus and became the Master of Past and Present and took his place as Master of the accursed Tower of High Sorcery in Palanthas. Powerful enough to challenge the Dark Queen and take her place as god of evil, Raistlin seduced a priestess named Crysania and together they entered the Portal to the Abyss. In a battle, Raistlin left the blinded and wounded Crysania to her fate to embrace his own destiny. But Caramon who had seen the outcome of the battle and had followed his brother into the Abyss, finally reached his brother's heart after many cold years. Convinced that his plan would bring ruin, Raistlin and performed the only selfless act of his life. Giving his brother the Staff of Magius Raistlin tells him to take Crysania and close the portal behind him. For his valor, Raistlin was granted eternal rest by the gods. Raistlin left the world with the gods after the second Cataclysm. However rumors are abound that he is somehow tied into events surrounding the War of Souls. Perhaps Raistlin will return....

Caramon Majere

Caramon was born in AC 335 in Solace, older brother to his twin, Raistlin. Caramon was well liked by everyone, and became a force to be reckoned with, being very good at sword fighting. He always patronized Raistlin, though the two adventured together during their young adulthood. Seen as muscle-bound and not too bright, Caramon is slow to anger and eager to see the good side of everyone, but in reality, he is thoughtful, taking his time in mulling over all the facts of every situation. As one of the Heroes of the Lance, Caramon's Inn of the Last Home has become world famous. He and Tika, his wife, are the parents of five children. Raistlin re-appeared during the Summer of Chaos, and his brother traveled with him for a brief time. Raistlin vanished again, and Caramon returned to his peaceful life at the inn. He later came to the aid of the centaurs of Darkenwood with his daughter Dezra. Caramon and Dezra fought the Chaos creatures and saved the centaurs and the Forestmaster from annihilation. Caramon also came to the aid of Sara Dunstan when she was founding the Legion of Steel, by providing a safe haven for her. During the fifth age, Caramon briefly assisted the Heroes of the Heart, before returning to retirement at his inn. During the War of Souls, Caramon was startled by Tasslehoff whom he had thought long dead, and died from a heart attack. 

Tika Wayland Majere

Tika was the adopted daughter of Otik, owner of the Inn of the Last Home before the War of the Lance. Teased by Caramon about her homely looks, that changed when she joined the Companions during the War of the Lance, after which she and Caramon were married and became the proprietors of the Inn. She lived a relatively peaceful life with her husband in the decades following, and passed away just prior to the War of Souls.

Sturm Brightblade

Sturm was the son of a Solamnic lord, displaced by marauding commoners in the years after the Cataclysm. He became a companion of Tanis, Flint and the Majere brothers while living in Solace. When the heroes departed for their five years journey in search of the true gods, Strum spent that time searching for his father, who was always presumed dead, but never actually found. In his search he found his father's ancient armor and sword, which was said would only break if he who wielded it did first. A newly Knighted Sturm led the Knights of Solamnia in the defense of the High Clerist's Tower during the Blue Dragonarmy's attack in the War of the Lance. Buying his forces time to lure the dragons to their deaths with the dragon orb, Sturm  faced the Blue Lady on the back of her dragon, Skie, and was slain. The battle was witnessed only by his friend, Laurana. After the battle was won, he was buried beneath the Tower, the greatest hero of the Knights since Huma Dragonbane.

Tasslehoff Burrfoot

Tas was born in Kendermore, the nephew of Uncle Trapspringer, a hero of kender folklore. While traveling during his Wanderlust, Tas ended up in Solace with one of Flint's metalworking pieces in his pouches. Tanis caught the kender, and the three became friends for the remainder of their lives. Always fearless and able to look on the bright side of any situation, Tas was never at a loss for telling a good story to anyone who might listen. Tas was killed in the battle with Chaos during the Second Cataclysm, and is honored at the Last Heroes' Tomb. Coincidentally, many kender now claim to have an 'Uncle Tas.' However of even more an unnerving nature, Tas has since reappeared during the War of Souls, with the claim that he used the Device of Time Traveling just before Chaos squished him, but that he saw an entirely different future than the one that now exists. He is a key player in the War of Souls, although his role is yet to be truly determined.

Flint Fireforge

Born in 212 AC in Hillhome, the Khalkist Mountains, Flint Fireforge is the oldest of the Companions. During his younger days, Flint was an artisan in residence in Qualinesti, commissioned by Solostaran to work his art in carvings and metalworking. There he met Tanis Half-Elven, and the two outcasts of Elven society became friends. They left Qualinesti, and Flint took up residence in Solace where he became a surrogate father to the Majere brothers. Flint died making the journey to Neraka with the Companions during the War of the Lance. He sits by a tree near Reorx's forge in the sky, carving and waiting for a 'doorknob of a kender' to join him.

Goldmoon

Chieftain's Daughter was the High Priestess of Que-Shu, until she received a vision from her mother to find the True Gods. During his courting quest, Riverwind recovered the Blue Crystal Staff for Goldmoon, one of the first items which heralded the return of the true gods. With the aid of the Companions she and her husband, Riverwind, recovered the Disks of Mishakal during the early days of the War of the Lance, restoring people's faith in the true gods of Krynn. After the war, she and Riverwind rebuilt Que-Shu and became parents of three children: Wanderer, Brightdawn and Moonsong. Goldmoon discovered mysticism after the second cataclysm and founded an order of mystics on the Isle of Schallsea. She later formed the Heroes of the Heart to combat the Dragon Overlords, and prevented Malys' ascension to godhood. Goldmoon has also been worried by events during the War of Souls, and is looking for answers. During this sojourn, Goldmoon has been affected by a magical storm and returned to youth. As a young cleric again, Goldmoon is preparing to fight against evil once more.

Riverwind the Plainsman

Riverwind is the grandson of Wanderer, who was the grandson of a priest of Mishakal and the daughter of a Knight of Solamnia who survived the Cataclysm. Riverwind won Goldmoon's hand and completed a horrible quest to prove his worthiness to marry her. Riverwind is perhaps best known for his tracking abilities, and his ability to successfully complete difficult and dangerous quests into enemy territory. Riverwind and his younger daughter, Brightdawn, were killed leading a kender army against Malystyrx.
